emergency operations

What kind of doctor would do emergency operations, like severe car accidents or something?
I’m guessing some kind of surgeon, but what kind, specifically, would work with emergency things?
A trauma surgon is what your looking for. They complete residency (4 years after med school) as a general sergon, which means they do a little bit of everything. Then they specialize (2 years of more) as a trauma surgon. Very cool Job. And start out at $300,000 a year.
Hope that helps

Emergency Management and Tactical Response Operations
$55.48 Is emergency management education undoing an age-old tradition in the American Fire Service? Over one hundred forty-three (143) institutions of higher education are now offering certificate or degree programs in emergency management with no tactical operations experience required for admission. Dr. Tom Phelan explores the skills being taught to emergency management students and addresses the concerns of experienced first responders in accepting their leadership.*Discusses the value of emergency management education in the post-9/11 world*Makes clear the need for educating emergency managers to prepare them for emergency manager leadership*Helps bridge the gap between emergency management and first responders*Should be required reading in every college emergency management curriculum*The book is clear, concise, and an "easy read" |

Emergency Response Planning
$108 Emergencies wreak havoc on businesses and governments on a daily basis. Whether it is a hurricane pounding a coastal community, a terrorist attack on a company's headquarters, or a hazardous chemical spill at a local school, the results can be loss of life, health, and property. How can you prevent or reduce the effects of such occurrences? By planning ahead. Emergency Response Planning is designed to help corporate and municipal managers quickly understand their roles in proactive and reactive emergency management. Author Paul Erickson shows how to develop partnerships with federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as community groups in order to prevent, prepare for, and respond to natural disasters and manmade emergencies. Emergency Response Planning provides essential information to help you comply with government regulations, design an emergency response plan, train personnel, use the proper safety equipment, safeguard information systems, and resume normal operations after an emergency as quickly as possible. It will also help consultants design emergency response plans for their clients, and provide practical information for students studying business continuity and emergency issues. |

Emergency Incident Risk Management
$96.48 Emergency Incident Risk Management: A Safety & Health Perspective Jonathan D. Kipp, Murrey E. Loflin While risk management techniques have been successfully used to reduce the potential for physical harm to the public, these proven methods, strangely enough, have not been applied to one of the most hazardous environments of all fire fighting operations. The result is that more than 100,000 injuries occur to fire fighters each year. Emergency Incident Risk Management shows fire chiefs, fire officers, safety officers, and risk managers for the first time anywhere how to develop and implement a comprehensive risk management program that can sharply reduce on-the-job fatalities, injuries, and harmful exposures while minimizing property and equipment damage. Expanding on the information presented in the National Fire Protection Association 1500 Handbook, this thorough guide covers every phase of effective risk management from assigning roles and preplanning, through all the steps in a solid risk management plan, to handling actual emergency incidents. With the help of illuminating examples, Emergency Incident Risk Management demonstrates how to: * analyze accident, injury, and illness data * identify and evaluate risk * establish risk management priorities * formulate and implement sound risk control measures * monitor and fine-tune the risk management program * incorporate risk management into an incident management system * use and maintain proper personal protective equipment Further, the book addresses federal standards that safety administrators must observe, providing crucial compliance information on OSHA s regulations covering bloodborne pathogens, confined spaces, respiratory protection, and hazardous waste operations and emergency response in addition to the NFPA standards. The book, in fact, is so complete it even covers how to utilize cost/benefit analysis to ensure effective risk management decision making. Written by a longtime certified safety professional and an experienced fire officer, Emergency Incident Risk Management should be regularly consulted by every professional who administers or operates corporate, municipal, military, or private emergency response programs. |
